ScottishPower is one of the "Big Six" Energy Suppliers in the United Kingdom and currently has over 5 million customers. The supplier is part of the Iberdrola Group, an international energy company with operations in the UK, US, Mexico, Brazil and Spain.
ScottishPower was formed in 1990, in preparation of the privatisation of previously state owned Scottish electricity the following year. In 1995 it then acquired the regional supplier, Manweb. In 2006, ScottishPower became part of Iberdrola, a Spanish utility company.
ScottishPower believe in making a difference in the world and are dedicated to investing in green projects, as well as helping their customers be more energy efficient. Not only are they doing their part of the environment, they began a partnership with Cancer Research in 2011. An ambitious challenge of raising £5 million over 3 years was set. To raise money, ScottishPower set up their Help Beat Cancer Fixed Price Tariff and will make a donation to Cancer research UK for every month the customer remains on the tariff, up to a maximum of £5 per fuel per annum, until the end of the tariff term. In April 2015, ScottishPower renewed their contract with Cancer Research for a further 3 years and have raised over £8 million.
