Co-operative Energy now cheapest offline energy supplier in the Midlands area
Co-operative Energy is now officially the cheapest offline energy supplier for those paying by monthly direct debit living in the Midlands area after providing customers with a whopping 14% price cut on their electricity bills.
With an average cost of £954.35* for those taking paper bills it can be further reduced by accepting an online option resulting in a cost of £942.35*, unfortunately it then loses its competitive edge and ScottishPower comes in with their Online Energy Saver 14 tariff.
Whist energy prices are slowly creeping up it has been a long time since we have seen a supplier reduce costs by 14%.
So if you live in Birmingham, Gloucester, Hereford, Worcester or Wolverhampton and prefer to receive your bills by post today is the time to transfer energy supplier.

British Gas launch WebSaver 12
British Gas has today launched WebSaver 12.
WebSaver 12 offers customers to benefit from a discounted price against British Gas standard tariff rates until 30th September 2012. As with so many competitive tariffs launched in recent months this one does come with early termination fees should you leave the tariff before 1st October 2012.
Energylinx has launched WebSaver 12 across it entire network and would encourage every householder to compare energy prices to see just how much they can save.
Changing energy supplier is very easy these days and the savings can amount to hundreds of pounds. Tariffs like British Gas WebSaver 12 are worthwhile if you wish the flexibility of a non fixed tariff but like the idea of a discounted energy rate.
In terms of its price positioning the WebSaver 12 tariff from British Gas achieves 1st place when considering a standard consumption, paying by monthly direct debit across the distribution regions of London Electricity, Manweb, Northern Electric, Scottish Hydro-Electric, ScottishPower, Seeboard, SWALEC and SWEB

Domestic energy prices are falling
How can that be we hear you ask, as the money that you have been paying your energy supplier will have almost definitely increased in the last two years.
However let us have a look at the figures that the industry and government use when talking about domestic energy prices.
Pre January this year we used a standard consumption figure for an average customer of 20,500 kWhs of gas and 3,300 kWhs for electricity.
We now use 16,500 kWhs and 3,300 kWhs respectively.
So what does that mean in real terms?
If we look at what would have been quoted as an average spend on gas and electricity for an average consumer paying by monthly direct debit, averaged across all big six suppliers on their standard tariffs, averaged across the whole of the UK we come up with a figure of £1,147.57 back in May 2009.
If we look at the same analysis today the figure reduces to £1,032.34.
Great news, that means you are better off by nearly £115 per year.
Strange thing is that we have not found a customer who is spending less today than they were two years ago.
So where does that leave you, the consumer?
Our advice is switch now and switch fast. Wholesale gas prices are definitely on the way up and without doubt suppliers will have no choice but make some radical increases very soon. Overnight we have seen one supplier take a capped deal and whilst offering the same service increase the cost for customers joining today as opposed to yesterday by 10.97% averaged across the UK.
