British Gas launch Websaver 4

British Gas today launched WebSaver 4 as a direct replacement to WebSaver 3 and at the same time took pole position in the standard customer best price position in three areas of the UK.

The new British Gas WebSaver 4 tariff has the following features:

  • This tariff is available to credit meter customers in all regions, and is available to new and existing consumers.
  • All credit pay methods are accepted
  • A guaranteed discount period is offered, with a minimum 6% discount against our standard tariff prices until 30th November 2010.
  • Whether prices go up, down or remain the same, WebSaver 4 will be a minimum 6% below the standard tariff rates.

first:utility launch Smart Dual fuel online saver V1

first:utility has launched Smart Dual fuel online saver V1 in two distribution areas, Midlands Electricity and East Midlands Electricity.

Smart Dual fuel online saver V1 is available to dual fuel (gas and
electricity) customers only. There is not an option for gas or electricity only

Smart Dual fuel online saver V1 is available as online account with monthly direct debit payment only.

Customers selecting Smart Dual fuel online saver v1 will have a Smart Meter installed by first:utility. There is no charge for this but it does mean that if customers leave first:utility within the first two years they will be required to pay an early termination fee of £
50 per fuel.


The key features of Smart Dual fuel online saver V1 are:

  • The Gas service must not be on an IGT (Independent Gas Transporter) network

  • The Electricity service must have a profile class of 01 i.e. the customer must be on a single rate tariff at the point of registration

  • The customer must own the property where the services are located

  • Credits will not be provided to customers who export energy, but these customers can be acquired if they accept this

  • The current electricity meter must not be prepayment.

  • The current gas meter must not be prepayment.

  • The customer must have a mobile phone and be able to provide a valid email address that will be used for customer communications including billing.

  • The MPAN requested by the customer must not have a related MPAN

  • The services must not already be on supply with us, this is for new customers only.

  • The customer must pass our credit check process

  • The registered MPAN / MPRN must be energized
