LLoyds TSB energy customers face increase in their energy bills

80,000 domestic energy customers of Lloyds TSB will see their energy bill increase suddenly as a result of the decision by Lloyds TSB to drop its Ideal from Lloyds service.

Launched in a blaze of publicity back in July 2003, the plan was to supply cheaper gas, electricity and phone services to the bank's customers.

Lloyds TSB teamed up with ScottishPower and Cable & Wireless, promising savings of more than £100 a year.

But due to the ever increasing cost of energy the deals started to become unstuck last year and the bank has apparently spent months negotiating a way out of its commitments.

So instead of the blaze of publicity when launched Lloyds TSB has purposely closed the service with a simple notice on its website stating that Ideal from Lloyds TSB has now closed. Letters are now being sent out to the 80,000 people who signed up for the gas and electricity service and its 15,000 phone users advising them of their decision.

What is perhaps not made as clear is the extra cost that this will add to these 80,000 domestic energy customer bills.

Energylinx would encourage any existing customer of Lloyds TSB to carry out their own comparison to see exactly what the implications of being dropped by Lloyds TSB are.
