Atlantic Electric and Gas increase domestic energy prices

With effect from today for new customers and from the 1 January 2007 for existing customers, Atlantic Electric and Gas has announced price increases across all their tariffs.

Atlantic Electric and Gas are part of the Scottish and Southern Energy group and along with the other brands operated by the group, Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro-Electric and SWALEC they are introducing what will effectively be their second price increase this year with their last one taking effect on the 1st May 2006.

The increase is certainly not unexpected given how the whole energy market has increased during the last few months and whilst there are reports as to how wholesale prices are predicted to reduce in coming months it is still too early to see what, if any impact these reductions will have in real terms for the average domestic energy consumer.

That said as with any movement in prices Energylinx would recommend that any customer affected by this announcement does carry out a quick check to make sure that the tariff that they are on is the best for them.

Energylinx offers an unique energy search engine that allows the consumer to compare the prices of every single gas and electricity supplier that can supply their home.

The following table shows the full impact of these increases , which on average is 12.08% for electricity and 9.54% gas.

With the energy market in a continuous state of flux Energylinx would encourage all customers to look very seriously at capped or fixed prices deals as soon as possible. We have already had four fixed price tariffs close for new business this year and each time prices increase there is a distinct possibility that existing fixed price tariffs may close, so advice from Energylinx is act now.

Energylinx is largest specialist domestic energy price comparison in the UK that allows users to compare the prices of every single gas and electricity supplier. With so many companies in the market it becomes ever more critical that the domestic customer ensures that any comparison provided is 100% impartial.
